Most group leaders have no idea what to charge a sponsor. There is no rate card for a 300-person run club, so leaders either guess low or never send the pitch at all. We have now run over 70 sponsorships and paid more than $100,000 out to groups, so nobody has to guess.
1. The median sponsorship is $750 a month.
Not a one-time payment. A month. The middle of the range sits at $750, the low quarter lands around $300, and the top quarter reaches $1,500 or more. The largest single monthly payout we have processed was $4,500. If you have been thinking about sponsorship as a few hundred dollars for a one-off event, you are pricing a different product than the one brands are buying.
2. Leaders underprice because they undersell what their group can do.
Most leaders price a sponsorship as "a post, maybe two." But a sponsor who works with a group on Heylo also appears on the group's page, events, and email blasts, week after week, for the length of the deal. That is 2x the impressions of the posts alone. Price only the post and you are charging about half.
3. Brands are not buying reach. They are buying authenticity.
An ad is something members scroll past. A sponsor your group chose is a recommendation from someone they know, landing in a group they show up for on purpose: people who set an alarm, left the house, and stood in a parking lot because they said they would. Brands cannot manufacture that, and it is why a 300-person club can command more than its follower count suggests.
4. Your first yes is probably local.
National brands run on annual cycles and agency shortlists. The coffee shop your group ends up at every week can decide in an afternoon. Nearly every group that lands a first sponsor lands a local one, and the second conversation is far easier once you have a number and a track record to point at. For how to find and approach that first sponsor, read How to get sponsorships.
Stop guessing what you are worth.
Your group has been doing brand marketing for free for years: recommending gear, filling cafés, turning strangers into customers by way of friendship. The only thing between that and a monthly payment has been the pricing and the paperwork. Heylo now handles both. Every group gets a sponsorship link, offers priced from your real reach, and contracts, invoices, and payouts handled end to end.
We wrote up why we built it and what we learned along the way: Every group on Heylo can now get cash sponsorships
