Brockton Bikes is both a bike club and an advocacy organization.
We are about community - not athleticism. We ride as fast as the slowest rider. We ride as a group for our safety. We help people feel more comfortable biking in Brockton. And drivers get used to seeing cyclists - some actually beep in support.
We also help create safety on the streets for the people who live where we bike. More eyeballs. More friendly smiles and less anonymity. We play music and make it a party. We spread joy.
We are known for our monthly “First Friday” rides on the first Friday of each month from April to October. These rides begin and end in Downtown Brockton, ride through neighborhood streets; and are typically about 8 miles / 75 minutes long. We also hold special rides and field trips.
Our advocacy goes far beyond bike lanes. We want safer streets for all users of the streets: pedestrians, kids, drivers, their passengers, the disabled, cyclists, and more. When vehicles go slower and bad intersections get fixed, it’s safer for everyone.
