Why We Exist
I started this local Waltham community group in April 2017 to create a space where people can meet, socialize, and build real connections close to home.
Feeling isolated is common. In today’s world, many of us spend too much time behind screens, making it harder than ever to form meaningful friendships, especially if you’re new to the area or your friends have moved away.
That’s why I’m passionate about this group. This group is for people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s from Waltham, Newton, and nearby areas who want to break out of that cycle and enjoy genuine, face-to-face connections.
Whether trying new restaurants, enjoying outdoor dining in the summer, or just hanging out in a relaxed setting, this group is about building friendships that matter.
My hope is to create a welcoming space where people can meet, socialize, and build real connections close to home.
From the start, I’ve believed that real community isn’t built by one person, it grows when members bring their ideas, their interests, and occasionally help host or behind the scenes. That shared contribution is what keeps the group active, meaningful, and reflective of everyone who calls it home.
This is a member-supported, community-driven group, where people don’t just attend events, they help shape and grow the community.

How You Can Help Keep the Group Alive
This group thrives when members share in both the fun and the responsibility of keeping it going.
✅ Suggest event ideas anytime, invite fellow members to events that you're interested in to foster a sense of community.
✅ Volunteer to host or co-host events when you feel ready and inspired
I’m here to support you in hosting, no pressure or heavy lifting required.
Hosting can be as easy or involved as you want it to be, and even occasional help makes a big difference.
✅ Suggest hangouts anytime on the chats, or initiate and/or continue conversations going on.
P.S. We also have a sister group for Latin@s, providing a space for Latin@s in the area to connect. https://heylo.group/raiceslatinaswaltham

Member Dues Why the $15 Annual Dues?
Your one-time yearly contribution of just $15 helps keep the group going and adds value for everyone. After processing fees, the group receives $13.12 per member, which supports:
• Organizer and platform fees (to manage, scale, and sustain the community)
• Building a reserve to support current and future activities
• Occasional shared appetizers or desserts at group meals
• The ability to reserve private rooms at restaurants when possible
• Supplies for events like name tags, game night materials, or special surprises
• Creating a better, more consistent experience for all members
Your support helps ensure the group stays active, welcoming, and fun, now and in the future.
