About
✨Why We Exist Since 2017, Friends Beyond Boston has been building a local community where adults can move beyond casual encounters and create real friendships close to home. Feeling isolated is common. In today’s world, many of us spend more time behind screens, work remotely, or find that friendships become harder to maintain as people move away, enter new life stages, or simply get busier. Finding meaningful connections as an adult can be challenging, especially outside major city centers where events seem to appear outside your door. That’s why Friends Beyond Boston exists. We believe you shouldn’t have to travel into Boston to find community. This group creates opportunities for adults in Waltham, Newton, and surrounding MetroWest communities to meet people nearby, explore the area together, and build connections that grow over time. Our events are the way we bring people together, but the goal goes beyond any single activity. Whether it’s trying a new restaurant, exploring a local trail, attending a coffee social, or simply having a conversation with someone new, we’re creating opportunities for familiar faces to become friendships. From the beginning, I’ve believed that real community isn’t built by one person alone. It grows when members bring their ideas, interests, and experiences into the space. Some members participate by attending events, while others help shape the community through suggestions, hosting, co-hosting, or behind-the-scenes support. Friends Beyond Boston is a member-supported, community-driven group where people don’t just attend events, they help shape and grow the community. Visit us at: walthamsocial.com ______________________________ Who Is This Group For? Friends Beyond Boston is for adults in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and beyond who live or work in Waltham, Newton, or surrounding towns and want to: ✔️ Build friendships and connections without needing to travel into downtown Boston ✔️ Explore everything MetroWest has to offer, because there’s more here than you might think 😉 ✔️ Discover local restaurants, pubs, parks, trails, and activities ✔️ Join walks, hikes, kayaking, seasonal outings, and other local experiences ✔️ Socialize in a welcoming, respectful, and easygoing community that values genuine connection Whether you’re new to the area, looking to expand your circle, or simply want more opportunities to meet people nearby, you’re welcome here. ______________________________ ✨Our Goal Our goal is to create a consistent space where adults can build meaningful friendships, discover new places, and enjoy spending time with others in their local community. Friendships often develop through repeated experiences, seeing familiar faces, having conversations, and having a place where you feel comfortable showing up. We want to make that easier by creating welcoming opportunities for people to connect close to home. ______________________________ Our Values ✨Real Connection We focus on creating opportunities for genuine, in-person friendships close to home. Events are a starting point, but the goal is the relationships that grow from them. 🌱Community Participation This community grows when members contribute ideas, share interests, support one another, and help shape the experiences we create together. Community building happens in many ways, not only through hosting. Members can contribute by suggesting ideas, sharing local events and activities they think others may enjoy, welcoming others, or helping create connections. 🤝🏽Respect & Inclusion We aim to maintain a welcoming, respectful space where people can feel comfortable being themselves and connecting with others. We recognize that people connect and communicate in different ways. Whether you're outgoing or quiet, neurotypical or neurodivergent, new to social groups or returning after a long break, we want FBB to be a place where you can participate comfortably and authentically. 🧭Consistency & Structure A clear system of membership, guidelines, and community resources helps keep FBB active, reliable, and sustainable long-term. ______________________________ ✨Why Join Us? Friends Beyond Boston isn’t just a calendar of events. It’s a community built over years around helping adults create real connections close to home. Our gatherings are casual, low-pressure, and designed to help people connect naturally. You don’t need to arrive knowing anyone, and you don’t need to be the most outgoing person in the room. Community grows through small moments, joining a conversation, attending regularly, recognizing familiar faces, and finding people you enjoy spending time with. Whether you’re new to the area, looking for a bigger social circle, or simply want a welcoming place to meet people nearby, FBB offers a place to start building those connections. When you request to join, you’ll receive a short membership form before approval. This helps us maintain a safe, welcoming community that stays aligned with our purpose. ______________________________ How You Can Help Keep the Group Alive Friends Beyond Boston thrives because members contribute in different ways. You don’t have to be an organizer to be part of building the community. Ways to participate include: ✅ Share event ideas Have something you’d like to see happen?
