About
We are a small hillwalking and low-level walking (rambling or hiking if you prefer) group with members in Fife and Tayside. Although new to Heylo we have been established for approximately 10 years now. Why Fife Out and About? Small walking group sizes Exploration of quieter "off-piste" routes rather than "tourist" and "trade" routes Emphasis on enjoyment rather than simply "ticking or bagging" Environmental sensitivity - we abide by the concept of Minimal Impact Affiliated to Mountaineering Scotland Walking as "equals" - not led walks We offer regular walks/meets including weekends away. Our day walks take place in Fife, the Ochil Hills, Perthshire, Trossachs, the Borders, Kinross-shire, Angus and the Southern Highlands. Our weekends can be anywhere in Scotland and we have a particular fondness for island visits (we even made it out to St Kilda one year). Other islands we have visited in the last few years include Lewis, Harris, the Uists, Barra, Eigg, Muck, Canna, Lismore and Colonsay. On the mainland, our weekend meets have taken us to the Cairngorms, Glen Affric, Gairloch, Kintail, Durness, Elphin and Applecross. We cover all types of walks from coastal strolls to winter hill walks and easy grade scrambling. Our walks are graded to assist you in choosing a suitable one for your abilities. You are very welcome to walk with us as a guest for 3 - 4 walks/meets before joining us. Joining on Heylo does not automatically make you a member of our actual group. You can find out lots more information on our group's website at www.fifeoutandabout.uk or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/groups/FifeOutAndAbout. Some walks published on our website may not appear on platforms such as Heylo and Facebook. However, you can still join us for these walks by booking via the website. In particular we would encourage you to read the section under the Walks menu as this covers what to expect, participation agreement, kit list and grading information. If you would like further information please get in touch using our contact form at https://fifeoutandabout.weebly.com/contact.html.
