📢 SAT, NOV 7: FORT MOSE HISTORIC STATE PARK + THREE OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES AFTERWARD / Saint Augustine
Join us this Saturday as we visit Fort Mose Historic State Park, the site of the "first legally sanctioned free African settlement in what is now the United States."
Established in 1738, Fort Mose became a sanctuary for Africans who escaped enslavement in the British colonies. Captain "Francisco Menéndez", who had formerly been enslaved, became the leader of this free Black community and captain of its militia, helping defend Spanish St. Augustine.

• River and beach views
• "Free ferry ride and guided tour of Fort Matanzas, if passes are available"

11:30 a.m., 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.
The ferry ride and guided fort visit take approximately 45–55 minutes. The ferry is FREE, but everyone—including children—must obtain a same-day boarding pass from the Fort Matanzas Visitor Center.
Passes are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and frequently run out early. The ferry tour cannot be guaranteed. If passes are unavailable, you can still enjoy the short trails, beach, picnic area and beautiful water views.
