About
Brooklyn's queer ghosts are back by popular demand for our 2nd Halloween history run 👻
This time we'll feature new (formerly hidden) locations, an updated route, and some very special guests including local city council members and author Hugh Ryan of the book that inspired it all - When Brooklyn Was Queer.
On Tuesday, October 20th, lace up to explore and run through America's oldest gayborhood along the Navy Yard and waterfront. We're summoning up forgotten stories, erased histories, and the queer spirits who shaped the very streets we run on.
We’ll start and end at one of our fave local queer bars, C'mon Everybody, and make stops along the way where our guides will uncover the radical, romantic, and rebellious ghosts of Brooklyn’s queer past.
This run isn’t just about miles; it’s about reclaiming history, honoring our pioneers, and celebrating the 🕸️spookiness🕸️ of the queer community.
This event is a fun, active, and tangible way to recognize erased history especially in the face of modern campaigns to whitewash our past and present. Because of our efforts last year, we've made real headway in memorializing and preserving our queer heritage in Brooklyn for future generations. We'll share some updates and ways for you to get involved during our afterparty.
✨ Start/end - C'mon Everybody 💀 Tour will be ~5.5 miles, ~60 minutes at a very easy pace (with a 3 mile option as well) 🧙‍♀️ Add your name here to call on NYC leaders to recognize and reckon with Brooklyn's erased queer history:
