About
Last year we ran 21K. This year we’re going twice as far.
Not just to challenge our legs — but to remember, to honour, and to celebrate the freedom that makes every single step possible.
On Sunday, 13 September 2026, we’re returning to the Airborne Freedom Run — but this time, we’re taking on the 44K Trail.
This is a run through nature, history and freedom. The 44K takes us deep into the Veluwe, through forests, heathland and beautiful single tracks, starting at the Ginkelse Heide and eventually bringing us to the heart of Arnhem.
And all along the way, we run through a landscape that carries stories.
Stories of young men who came here with courage, knowing they might never return home. Stories of sacrifice, loss and incredible bravery. Stories that should never be forgotten.
There is something deeply moving about running through these forests and knowing that, decades ago, people were fighting for the freedom we are able to take for granted today.
At the Airborne Freedom Run, remembrance is not just something you hear about.
It is something you feel.
Participants receive the name of a fallen soldier and carry that name with them. And at the Airborne War Cemetery in Oosterbeek, runners can place a small wooden cross at the grave of the person they are running for — a simple gesture that says:
We remember you. We know your name. And we thank you for the freedom you helped give us. ❤️
That is what we want to carry with us for these 44 kilometres.
So yes — there will be tired legs. There will be moments when 44K feels like a terrible idea. There will probably be a lot of laughter, too.
But there will also be moments of silence.
Moments when we look around at the forest, breathe deeply, and realise how incredibly lucky we are to be here — free to run.
📅 Sunday, 13 September 2026 📍 Start: Ginkelse Heide, Ede 🏃‍♀️ Distance: 44K Trail 🏁 Finish: Markt, Arnhem 🌲 Approx. 400m elevation — forests, heathland & single tracks

This is not just another long run.
This is a run to remember. A run to honour. A run to say thank you.
❤️ 44 kilometres. One story. One freedom.
