About
๐ŸŒฟ WALK: SE ENGLAND: Surrey Hills - Mad Horse Copse
Led by: Judy Carbone
Distance: Approx 4.2 miles/6.7km
Meeting point: Entrance to car park - Nower and Milton Heath Car Park, Hampstead Lane, Dorking, RH4 3JU
Pace: Gentle and inclusive - no one left behind
We will follow the bridleway going gently uphill for 1/2km and then down a narrow footpath to some picturesque houses. We then follow the path through some woodland and across open fields with a lovely view, and across a quiet road. The footpath continues across more fields, with a slight climb towards paddocks containing horses and ponies, before crossing the road again, toward Mad Horse Copse (4.5km approx) We will stop here briefly for refreshments.
Footpaths will then take us the last 1.5km, across a field and more woodland before joining the path by the houses. A short climb through the woods will take us back to the main bridleway to the car park.
The route follows paths which are currently in good condition. That said, some paths are through woodland and the seating area around the cafe is uneven. Please wear sensible shoes. There are some gentle climbs on the route and one short downhill section. There are a number of well maintained kissing gates, but no stiles.
