More than a story about running, We Run 313 documents a grassroots movement that has reshaped how Detroiters connect with one another and with their city. Founded in 2019 by Woods and Robinson, We Run 313 has become one of Detroit’s most influential community-based fitness organizations, creating inclusive spaces for Black runners and promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being across neighborhoods throughout the city.
Filled with personal stories and 100 color photographs, this book explores how a simple idea—running together—grew into a powerful force for civic connection and cultural renewal. Participants from all walks of life gather through We Run 313 to build friendships, support one another through life’s challenges, volunteer in their communities, and contribute to Detroit’s ongoing renaissance.
