About
Greetings Everyone - Join us on Sunday to walk the Spragg Bush Track and the other small tracks, finishing at the famous Rose Hellaby House. The time spent at the house depends on the walks open to the public - but the view platform is the best view in Auckland and is open.
🟡 Some words to Inspire you:
Rose Eleanor Hellaby was a remarkable New Zealand philanthropist whose enduring gift continues to enrich Auckland. In 1937, she purchased a magnificent property atop the Waitakere Ranges in Titirangi.
There, she constructed a charming cottage styled after traditional English homes, surrounded by pristine native forest and manicured gardens. Elevated high along Scenic Drive, her residence commanded breathtaking panoramic views across the Manukau Harbour and Auckland skyline.
Deeply committed to environmental preservation and public benefit, Rose bequeathed her five acre estate to the city upon her death in 1974. Today, the historic Rose Hellaby House and surrounding scenic lookout remain a beloved public sanctuary, preserving her remarkable life and legacy.
