About
In 2027 we’ll return to the wonderful Nepal and do a relative short 10-day trek. During the trek, we can enjoy beautiful Himalayan views and the stunning Gokyo Lake (and 2 other lakes). The event picture is Gokyo Lake. We will see many high mountains, including Mount Everest, from close range. During this trek we will see more of Mt. Everest than when hiking to base camp!
We will also see a sunrise from the top of Gokyo Ri. This is one of the highlights of the trek; it will be a sunrise you will never forget! It is a great trek for nature lovers and mountain enthusiasts.
Here is the outline of the trek: Day 1: Arrive in Katmandu (April 25, 2027) Day 2: Fly from Katmandu to Lukla. Hike to Phakding (2,610m, 8,563ft) Day 3: Hike from Phkding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m, 11,286ft) Day 4: Acclimatization/Rest Day in Namche Bazaar. Get used to altitude Day 5: Hike from Namche Bazaar to Dole (4,200m, 13,780ft) Day 6: Hike from Dole to Machhermo (4,470m, 14,665ft) Day 7: Hike from Machhermo to Gokyo (4,790m, 15,715ft) Day 8: Hike from Gokyo to the top of Gokyo Ri (5,357m, 17,575ft) and explore Gykyo Lake. Day 9: Hike from Gokyo to Dole Day 10: Hike from Dole to Namche Bazaar Day 11: Hike from Namche Bazaar to Lukla. Day 12: Fly from Lukla to Katmandu or Phokara
You are responsible to book your flight to/from Katmandu. Just ensure you get to Katmandu on April 25. When I posted this a return flight from Philly to Katmandu were $1,200. Last time it cost me 80,000 AA points.
I am planning to fly to Phokara at the end of this trek and spend a week there hiking and enjoying the beautiful lake town. Note that Lukla is in the mountains and that we could get stuck there for a day or two. So do not plan to leave Nepal the day after you are supposed to get back to Katmandu!
The cost is estimated to be $1,400pp, assuming you share a room. If you want a single room it is slightly more expensive. Let me know if you would like a single room.
The cost includes: • a night in a BB hotel on Day 1 and on Day 12 in Kathmandu • all airport pickups and drop offs (4 in total) • all necessary trekking papers and work permits • all mountain lodging and food (we’ll be staying in guest houses who have proper beds, pillows and blankets). • professional guide • porters • 2 Flights (KTM/lukla/KTM) • fresh fruits, extra energy bars etc
Bring: • Cash to tip guides, porters, buy beer, snacks , souvenirs, etc. Note that porters can wash your underwear, socks etc for small tips. • Toys, color pencils, etc. for kids we encounter on the trek • Sleeping bag and silk sleeping bag liner • Trekking poles • Day backpack (porters will carry main luggage) • Sun block • Sunglasses & winter hat • Lots of layers and rain gear. When we hike we should not see rain at this time of the year • Towels • Water containers. Water will be boiled and treated in the guesthouses. • Good hiking shoes or trail runners (which I will use)
