🥾 Additional information:
Per the website:
The Mountain to River (M2R) Trail is a planned 13.5-mile, multi-use path intended to link Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park with the Chattahoochee River. While the trail is highly walkable and has many completed, paved sections, the full route to the river remains under active development and features on-street gaps.
Trail Status & Route Details
•
Northern Start: The trail begins near the visitor center at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park ($5 vehicle fee for the park).
•
The Completed Urban Segment: From the mountain, the paved trail and wide sidewalks head south along Kennesaw Avenue, passing through Historic Marietta Square to Brown Park and the City Cemetery.
•
The Unfinished River Connection: Past the cemetery, the route toward the river (along Atlanta Road/Spring Road) is currently incomplete. The City of Marietta and Cobb County continue to expand the trail network, but the final connection to the Chattahoochee River requires navigating busy, on-road stretches.
•
Distance & Time: The completed route from the park visitor center to downtown Marietta is about 3.8 miles. A full out-and-back hike or bike on the completed paved segments spans around 9.7 miles and takes roughly 3 to 4 hours.
