🚨Important Information •••THIS IS FOR MAMMOTH MARCH TRAINING•• Everyone is welcome just be aware this will be a fast paced hike so you may not have a hike leader with you. We do have slower hikers that can group together.
🥾 Additional information: Red Top Mountain State Park (50 Lodge Rd SE, Cartersville, GA) frequently connect to form an interconnected loop. You'll enjoy dense, shaded hardwood forests and sweeping views of Lake Allatoona, located just a short drive from South Fulton. A breakdown of these trails and how they connect:
Homestead Trail: A moderate, 5.5-mile loop (including the connector from the Visitor Center) that winds through beautiful, shaded coves and follows the Lake Allatoona shoreline for about half its length.
Sweet Gum Trail: This trail is often used to connect to the Homestead Trail. It provides a shaded pathway through the hardwood forest and gives access to park relaxation platforms.
Osprey Loop Trail: A scenic, relatively short trail that branches off to provide great bird-watching opportunities and excellent vantage points of the lake.
Lakeside Trail: A short, 0.75-mile ADA-accessible paved loop near the Park Office that traces the shoreline. It's a flat walk featuring the historic 1869 Vaughan cabin.
When combined, these pathways create a heavily wooded loop of about 6.2 miles with roughly 593 feet of elevation gain. A standard daily parking fee of $5 is required to enter the park, or you can purchase an annual Georgia State Parks pass.
