BIPOC Mountain Collective – Fly Fishing 201: Eleven Mile Canyon
Take your fly fishing skills to the next level with BIPOC Mountain Collective at one of Colorado’s most iconic trout fisheries—Eleven Mile Canyon.
Our Fly Fishing 201 class is designed for anglers who already have a basic understanding of fly fishing and want to build confidence on moving water. Throughout the day, participants will focus on reading water, improving casting accuracy, selecting flies, rigging techniques, presentation, and landing fish in a variety of river conditions.
This is a hands-on learning experience where you’ll receive instruction while fishing alongside an experienced angler in a supportive, community-focused environment.
Park entry fee: Daily Vehicle Pass: $​10-$15
Tentative Itinerary
The phone reception is very limited in the canyon so please leave early to communicate in time with me.
9:00 AM – Meet at Eleven Mile Canyon recreation area entrance
Welcome and introductions
Safety briefing and review of the day’s objectives
Gear check
8:30 AM – River Skills Workshop
Reading water and identifying productive holding lies
Advanced rigging and leader setup
Fly selection and matching conditions
Casting refinement and line management
10:00 AM – Guided Fishing Session
Fish alongside instructors while applying new techniques
Individual coaching on presentation, drifts, hook sets, and fish handling
12:30 PM – Lunch Break (Lunch provided will be sub sandwiches chips and drinks)
Relax, connect with fellow anglers, and discuss the morning session.
Please bring your own lunch, snacks, and plenty of water.
1:15 PM – Afternoon Fishing & Skill Development
Continue fishing with instructor support
Focus on problem-solving, adapting to changing conditions, and building confidence on the water
4:00 PM – Wrap-Up
