Greetings Everyone - Join us on Sunday as we discover Auckland’s Hidden Eastern Coastline.

Escape the city bustle and immerse yourself in an incredible four-to-five-hour loop through the untamed beauty of East Auckland.
Starting in the rolling, unique farmlands of Churchill Park, this diverse walk sweeps you along the pristine wetlands of Tahuna Torea and down the stunning, paved boardwalks of Wai-o-Taiki Nature Reserve.
Tracking the edge of the sparkling Tāmaki Estuary all the way to Point England Beach, you will enjoy panoramic water views and vibrant native birdlife before heading inland to skip between reserves back to Churchill Park.
Combining coastal vistas, native bush tracks, and open green pastures, it is the ultimate weekend escape right in the city's backyard.
Duration: About 4 - 5 hours hike including stops.
Distance: Approx 13 - 15 km.
Difficulty: 2.5 - 3.0 on our 1-5 scale for day hikes.
Toilets will be available at Roberta Reserve & Point England Reserve.

🟡 Walk Description & Directions:
Start at Kinsale Avenue, walking towards Churchill Park School. Cross into Churchill Park, passing the main car park and continuing up to the Churchill Park outlook. Exit the park boundary at 246 Riddell Road.
Turn left onto Riddell Road, then right into Clouston Street. Follow the Glendowie Road extension past the Glendowie Boating Club. Take the stairs down to the shore on the left, just past the parking area.
Cross Roberta Reserve using the path, then follow the Glendowie Bay shoreline. Walk out onto the sandspit, loop through Tahuna Torea Nature Reserve, and navigate around the Pakini Hepi Pond.
Pass Tahaki Road Reserve on the right and enter Wai-o-Taiki Bay. Cross over the Ōmaru Creek Bridge, then track through the Wai-o-Taiki Nature Reserve towards the Glen Innes Leisure Centre.
Cross Elstree Avenue and turn right to head up the street. Turn left into Taniwha Street, then take the walkway on the right by the Bahai Centre into Wimbledon Reserve. Follow this to the far end where Paddington Street intersects with Sloane Street. Cross into Paddington Reserve and walk through to West Tāmaki Road.
Turn right onto West Tāmaki Road, then left into Washington Avenue. Enter the Crossfield Reserve walkway just after Jefferson Street. Head right through the reserve, cross Crossfield Road, and pass Te Taurere Pā, climbing to its summit. Continue out to Riddell Road, turning right towards Glendowie Park. Exit the park at the corner of Whitehaven Road and Lisburn Avenue, cross into Forfar Road, and follow it to the southern entrance of Churchill Park by the Tennis Club to complete the circuit.
