About
Nobel Prize-winning psychologist Daniel Kahneman reveals the hidden forces that shape how we make decisions, exposing the biases and mental shortcuts that influence everything from everyday choices to billion-dollar public investments. For us the book offers a powerful lens through which to understand why cities build highways instead of subways, why megaprojects routinely run over budget, and how planners, politicians, and the public can misjudge risk and reward. A foundational work in psychology and behavioral economics, it provides surprising insights into the human factors behind the infrastructure systems that define our lives.
This event will be hosted by Ayat Yaseen, a scientist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center with a background in chemistry, structural biology, protein nanotechnology, and DNA repair. Her research has been published in Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, including recent work exploring how human cells protect their DNA during replication. She is also the author of Bench and Balance Sheet, where she writes at the intersection of biotechnology, science, and investing. We’re thrilled to have her lead our discussion!
