This Adventure is now open to all paid members of the RCA!
Get ready for another unforgettable SGVRC adventure! We're rolling out to one of California's most iconic OHV destinations β€” the Oceano Dunes SVRA β€” for a full weekend of sand driving, beach camping, and great company.
πŸ›» Trip Overview This is a guided convoy trip from Ventura to Pismo Beach, culminating in an afternoon of dune bashing and an overnight beach campout right on the sand. You'll be fully self-sufficient, but the payoff is worth it β€” wide-open dunes, salty ocean air, a potluck dinner on the beach (Chris is bringing a full pizza oven setup πŸ•), and a campfire under the stars.
πŸ”‹ EV + Convoy Notes
Meet at Ventura RAN (Pacific View Mall, 3301 E. Main St.) at 9:00 AM with at least 70% SOC Charging stop at Pismo Beach RAN (~112 miles from Ventura) β€” lunch break while you charge Pismo Beach RAN has 8 stalls + nearby EA chargers β€” bring your adapter! Air down to 28–30 PSI before entering the dunes (compressor strongly recommended)
🧭 Requirements To keep things safe and fun, each vehicle must have:

Whip flag (min. 8 ft, bright color) β€” required by CA State -Parks. On-site vendor sells them for ~$20
β€’
All your own camping gear (tent, sleeping bag rated for cold temps, warm layers)
Optional, but highly recommended:

First aid kit
β€’
Recovery gear (traction boards, tow strap, shovel, portable air compressor).
Evening temps on the coast drop into the low 40s with wind β€” pack accordingly!
πŸ– Return Route Sunday after breaking camp, we'll caravan back to SoCal with a group lunch stop at Rancho Nipomo β€” a local Santa Maria-style BBQ institution. A great way to cap the weekend.
