Physical storytelling is a beginner-friendly movement workshop series at focused on exploring storytelling through movement and developing your individual freestyle or performance. Every third Sunday at Decentered Arts, we’ll have Physical Storytelling or Group Movement Lab.
Workshop:
In this workshop, the embodiment of words, and body language collide. Participants will be encouraged to find the intersection of physicality and phrases - exploring the language of the body and playing with both literal and abstract interpretations of text.
Please bring 2 pieces of diverse texts that inspire you - anything from song lyrics, to news articles, text messages, to poetry. Participants will use these texts as the basis of their writing and movement inspiration. Beginners to skilled practitioners are welcome. Open minds and an interest in movement are required.
Breakdown of the day:
12:00 -12:30 movement practice and welcome
12:30 -1:00 remix of texts
1:00 - 1:30 exploration mentored by Moscelyne
1:30 - 2:00 sharing of materials and discussion
