Greetings Everyone - Join us on Sunday as we travel north of Auckland to explore the Scandrett Regional Park and Homestead area.
🟡 Some words to Inspire you:
The Scandrett Regional Park Perimeter Loop is a fantastic 3-hour moderate walk that showcases the best of New Zealand's farming history, rugged coastal cliffs, and pristine beaches.
This hike starts at the main carpark, descending past a historic homestead to sea level before a steady vertical climb up the grassy Mullet Point Track.
Once at the top of the cliff, you will trace the scenic clifftop Kawau Bay Track and loop back down for a flat shoreline stroll along Scandrett Bay to conclude the hike.
We will conclude the day at The Bridge House Lodge Bar & Restaurant in Warkworth.
Duration: About 3.0 - 3.5 hours hike including stops. Distance: Approx 7 - 8km. Difficulty: 2.5 - 3.0 on our 1-5 scale for day hikes. High Tide: 12:35pm
Cost for Car Poolers: $15 - Please pay the driver your cash contribution to car pooling at Freemans Bay, otherwise you may not be able to come.
Toilets will be available at the start.

 We kindly request a $5 donation to support our website and enhance the safety of our group and extend a warm welcome to newcomers.

 We will be walking on a number of roads and shared paths. It is important to keep left and follow general road safety.

and start the trek. 12:30 - Lunch at Mullet Point Lookout 14:30 - Complete Hike
15:00 - 16:00 - Bridge House Lodge Bar & Restaurant (Optional) 17:00 - Arrive back at CBD

🟡 Walk Description & Directions: From the carpark we will descend into the beachfront valley walking through the beautifully preserved Scandrett Homestead area, which features old farm buildings, a woolshed, and an orchard dating back to the 1800s.
From here we will follow the Mullet Point Track on the eastern edge of the bay climbing steadily up through open rolling pastures looking back to enjoy sweeping views of Kawau Bay and Mahurangi Peninsula. Once you reach the clifftops at Mullet Point, the track transitions into the Kawau Bay Track hugging the cliff line through small pockets of regenerating native bush and coastal pōhutukawa trees.
The trail eventually loops back down toward the coastline, bringing you out onto the rocks and sand of Scandrett Bay and a flat, scenic stroll along the shoreline back to the historic homestead area and up to the main carpark.

🟡 What to Bring:
 Appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. Comfortable shoes suitable for a variety of terrains. Sun protection and emergency rain gear. Personal first-aid items.

 Safety and togetherness are our priorities. We will make stops at all track junctions to ensure the group stays together.
 Punctuality is key, and we will depart on time, so please be prompt.
