Just checking who’s interested for now — we can figure out logistics properly once we know numbers.

This summer, we’re looking at doing Chase the Sun North: a coast-to-coast, sunrise-to-sunset cycling challenge across the north of the UK.
The idea is simple and slightly unhinged: start at sunrise on the east coast, ride all day, and aim to reach the west coast before sunset. It’s long, beautiful, probably emotional, and almost definitely the kind of thing we’ll all pretend was “fun” while quietly questioning every life choice somewhere around kilometre 180.
The route is around 200 miles / 320km, so yes, this is a proper day out. It’s not a race, and the vibe is very much about getting through it together — steady pace, good energy, lots of snacks, questionable chat, and hopefully a very dramatic sunset finish.
You’ll need training, for sure. But it’s also very doable with the right build-up, consistency, and a few longer rides in the legs. Over the coming weeks we’ll start organising some group training sessions, including:
maybe the odd café stop disguised as endurance training
For now, this is just to see who’s interested so we can get a sense of numbers and start planning properly.
We’ll confirm the full plan once we know who’s keen, but we’ll need to think about:
getting bikes there / back
accommodation before and/or after
training rides in the build-up
whether we do this as one glorious collective mission or descend into chaos individually
If you’re interested, please RSVP so we can gauge numbers. No need to have all the answers yet — just a willingness to ride a silly distance across the country in pursuit of a sunset.
Training sessions and more detailed logistics coming soon.
