The Magic Valley Astronomical Society is hosting their annual Star Party at City of Rocks National Reserve during daylight hours, followed by a night viewing at neighboring Castle Rock State Park.
I am camping at City of Rocks Campsite 6, with plans to hike during the day, do some astrophotography at night, and look at the sun and stars in between on Saturday. I can sleep when I'm dead.
People are welcome to join me. There are multiple campgrounds available. Smoky Mountain is popular with those hauling trailers, and comes with hookups and showers. City of Rocks National Reserve campground is closer to trails and rocks but is much more spartan. Castle Rock S.P. has a Glamping Yurt and a house for rent. Town nearby has grocery store, 1-2 restaurants, and there is a local commercial hot springs.

The posted timeframes are pretty generic and not precise.
Reservations on your own, but any attendees are welcome to coordinate with me for any of the above mentioned activities. I will arrive Friday afternoon, and stay until checkout on Sunday.
