The Foothills Trail is a 77-mile masterpiece that straddles the border of North and South Carolina, offering some of the most rugged and rewarding terrain in the Appalachian foothills. Whether you're a seasoned thru-hiker or looking to complete your first long-distance trek, this event is designed to test your mettle and nourish your soul.
🌲 Event Overview
We aren't just walking; we're immersing ourselves in one of the most biodiverse regions in North America. Expect steep climbs, lush fern-filled gorges, and more waterfalls than you can count on both hands.
*Total Distance: 77 Miles
Total Elevation Gain: Approx. 14,000+ ft
Duration: 5 Days / 4Nights
**Route: Oconee State Park to Table Rock State Park
✨ Highlights of the Journey
The Crown Jewel: Stand atop Sassafras Mountain, the highest point in South Carolina, for 360-degree views.
Whitewater River: Cross the bridge over the roaring Whitewater Falls, the highest waterfall east of the Rockies.
*The Stairway to Heaven:Tackle the infamous steps of the Chattooga River section and the Heartbreak Hill of the Toxaway River.
Remote Serenity: Experience the "Green Cathedral" feel of the Gorges State Park wilderness.
🎒 What’s Included?
To make this thru-hike successful and safe, our event package includes:
1.
Shuttle Logistics: We handle the "two-car shuffle" so your vehicle is waiting for you at the finish line.
2.
Expert Guiding: Experienced leads to help with navigation, pace setting, and backcountry safety.
3.
Resupply Support: (Optional/If applicable) Mid-point food drops to keep your pack weight manageable.
4.
Community: A group of like-minded hikers to share the campfire stories and the "trail magic" moments.
⚠️ Difficulty & Requirements
Note: This is considered a strenuous hike. You should be comfortable carrying a full 30–40 lb pack for 10–12 miles per day over varied, often steep terrain.
Experience: Prior overnight backpacking experience is highly recommended.
Gear: Full backpacking kit (tent, sleep system, stove, water filtration) is required. A detailed gear list will be provided upon registration.
