These meetings usually occur on a monthly basis and offers a meaningful opportunity to engage directly with city leaders and initiatives focused on improving Black men’s health, expanding access to resources, and addressing disparities that affect longevity and quality of life. The Mayor's Office of Black Male Advancement (BMA) in Boston works to empower Black men and boys by reducing systemic barriers and ensuring equitable access to opportunities. Established in 2022, it drives policy, supports community-based organizations through grants, and guides the Black Men and Boys Commission to improve outcomes in health, economic mobility, and education.
Mission: To improve life outcomes and equity for Black men and boys in Boston.
Key Initiatives: Directs the Black Men and Boys Commission and My Brother's Keeper Boston.
Funding & Support: Launched the Community Empowerment Grants, investing over $2 million in local organizations focused on mentorship, career pathways, and mental health.
Focus Areas: The office addresses disparities in life expectancy, economic opportunity, and education, often in partnership with the Boston Public Health Commission.
