About
Whipple Creek Regional Park is a 300-acre natural area in Clark County, WA, located off Northwest 179th Street, about 1.5 miles west of the Clark County Fairgrounds and about 1.5 miles north of the Salmon Creek Greenway area. The park consists of rolling woodland bordering Whipple Creek, which runs through the park from southeast to northwest, headed for Lake River and Columbia River. There's an ample parking lot enhanced by a portable toilet. The park's dirt hiking trails are open to hikers and horseback riders (the latter subject to seasonal restrictions).
General information about the park can be accessed here:

THE HIKE: We will hike a 4+ mile circuit around the park, with about 500 feet of elevation gain. The quality of the trail is quite good overall, mostly wooded except near the parking lot, where there is one rest room. Sturdy footwear is recommended. Bring water and snacks. Hiking poles are optional - there are hilly, narrow spots and some roots.
Dogs are OK on a leash; please pick up after your pet.
COMMUTE: For most area residents, take exit 9 off I-5 North (about 1 mile north of the I-5 / I-205 split). Turn left (west) on NE 179th St and go about 1.5 miles. Turn left (south) on NW 21st Ave and go about 0.3 mile to the parking lot.
MEETING SPOT: We'll meet at the south end of the parking lot at the scheduled time.
FEES: At present, no fees or permits are required to use the park.
