Join us for a field trip to the Badass Women of New York Walking Tour, a limited-edition tour running this spring.
Over roughly two hours and about two miles of walking, the tour traces the stories of women who shaped New York’s civic, political, and cultural life but are often absent from traditional historical narratives. The guides introduce activists, journalists, architects, preservationists, and policymakers whose work influenced the development of the city.
Many of these stories intersect directly with infrastructure and the built environment. They include labor reforms that shaped workplaces and public institutions, preservation efforts that protected historic structures, and political decisions that influenced how the city was planned and governed.
The tour is presented by She Shapes History, a women’s history walking-tour company that began in Australia, where it runs popular tours in cities such as Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne. This New York tour represents the organization’s first expansion into the United States.
