Greetings Everyone - Join us on Sunday as travel out to Waiuku and check out the cliffs at Karioitahi Beach, Angrason Gardens a private garden and a secluded park/beach, before relaxing at the historic hotel - The Kentish.

Start your Sunday with us at Mugs & Muffins Café in Waiuku before we head out for a relaxed AGT exploration of the region’s coastal and garden highlights.
We’ll make our way to the dramatic Karioitahi Beach cliffs, where black sand, rugged waves, and sweeping views create one of Auckland’s most striking coastal scenes.
From there, we’ll wander through the peaceful Angrason Gardens, a privately owned gem, and continue on to a secluded local park and beach for a quiet break.
The day ends at the historic Kentish Hotel, proudly standing since 1851, where we can unwind together over a drink and enjoy the atmosphere of New Zealand’s oldest license
Duration: About 3-4 hours hike including stops.
Distance: Approx 10-12 km.
Difficulty: 2.25 on our 1-5 scale for day hikes.
Cost for Car Poolers: $20 - Please pay the driver cash at Freemans Bay, otherwise you may not be able to come.
Angrason Gardens - $10 per person
Toilets: The best option is to use the toilets at the cafe.
Low Tide: 11:54am.

08:30 - Car Pooling will be organised and leave.
09:30 - Everyone arrives at Mugs and Muffins Cafe - Use the Toilets - behind the cafe.
10:15 - All arrive Karioitahi Beach, Introductions, Hike starts.
11:30 - Lunch
12:30 - Back at the carpark
13:00 - 14:30 - Angrason Gardens
14:35 - 15:00 - Explore Te Toro Point Boat Ramp
15:15 - 16:15 - The Kentish - (Optional)
17:15 - Arrive back at Freemans Bay (approx)

🟡 Walk Description & Directions:
Staring from the beach we will walk up through the ravines to the top for a stunning view where we will have lunch before returning. We will then head to Angrason Gardens exploring pathways, ponds and waterfalls through dense plantings of palms, bromeliads, maples, vireya rhododendrons, agaves, cycads and ferns accompanied by the sound of large aviaries of canaries and piped music.
We will then drive across to the Manukau Harbour, check out Te Toro Point Boat Ramp before retiring for a quite ale at The Kentish.
