Greetings Everyone - Join us on Sunday as walk from Botany Town Centre to Shelly Beach and then visit The Ardmore Warbirds and John Hill Estate Winery
🟡 Some words to Inspire you: Join us this Sunday for a fresh AGT adventure as we walk from Botany Town Centre through parks, paths, and quiet neighbourhood trails on our way to Shelly Beach. This route has a great mix of urban green spaces and coastal views, making it an easy, social walk with plenty to enjoy along the way. After reaching the shoreline, we’ll continue on to Ardmore for a relaxed afternoon visit to the Ardmore Warbirds, where you can explore classic aircraft and local aviation history.
We’ll finish the day at John Hill Estate Winery, a scenic countryside spot perfect for a drink, a platter, and a chance to unwind together. A great mix of walking, exploring, and social time.
Duration: About 3 hours hike including stops. Distance: Approx 7-10 km. Difficulty: 2.5 on our 1-5 scale for day hikes.
Cost for Car Poolers: $10 - Please pay the driver cash at Freemans Bay, otherwise you may not be able to come.
Entry into the Ardmore Warbirds is $20 per person - pay onsite.
AT HOP Card/Credit Card for the bus ride back to Botany Town Centre. Toilets: The best option arrive early and use the toilets at Botany Town Centre.

All Botany Town Centre car parks have 4 hours free parking starting at 10am.
John Hill Estate does have Fun Archery and Laser Clay Target Shooting - must be booked in advance. $40/$50 per person.

🟡 Time Guideline:
 08:15 - A good time to arrive at NISHIKI FREEMANS BAY 08:30 - Car Pooling will be organised and leave.
09:00 - Everyone arrives at Kumon Dannemora Education Centre. Meet in the carpark.
09:10 - Introductions and Hike starts. 12:00 - Hike finishes at Shelly Beach - Lunch.
12:30 - Catch bus 735 back to Botany Town Centre
13:00 - Drive to Ardmore Warbirds 13:30 - 14:45 - Check out all the planes and Jeeps
14:45 - 15:15 Drive to John Hill Estate - (Optional) 15:15 - 16:15 - John Hill Estate - Wine and/or Archery 17:00 - Arrive back at Freemans Bay (approx)

🟡 Walk Description & Directions: Starting from the Education Centre, walk along Chapel Road to the Logan Carr Reserve - turn right and follow the paths to Kilkenny Park, you should arrive at Point View Drive. Turn right and Hayley Lane should be first on the left. Take care where you cross Park View Drive - can be dangerous.
Mangemangeroa Walkway should then take you all the way to Shelly Beach (Sandpit Road). Lunch can be anywhere along this or at the end.
Catch the bus 735 back to Botany Town Centre. Drive to Ardmore, look at the planes etc. I have allocated 1.25 hours for this. Then move onto the winery for a well earned drink.
