About the Artist:
Liam Clickenger is a photographer & educator whose work operates at the intersection of observation and intimacy. His creative practice spans cultural & documentary, fine art, and environmental commentary, often centering presence, and the quiet moments that shape us.
Clickenger’s work has been exhibited locally and internationally, and he has taught photography at Bay Area colleges for more than a decade. Across disciplines and contexts, Liam's work reflects a sustained commitment to attention, ethics, and the long arc of photographic practice.
About the Show:
Over more than two decades, I have made images across shifting contexts and ways of working.
In Practice is a retrospective exhibition that brings together small groupings of that work, images that operate at different scales and distances, from aerial landscapes to street-level documentary projects. Some were made in motion. Others were made slowly. Some were exhibited. Others were held quietly in the archive.
Many of the pieces in this exhibition are one-of-one prints. They are artifacts of specific moments, materials, and processes that no longer exist in quite the same way. They are not editions designed for repetition, but singular objects shaped by circumstance, access, and instinct.
Seen together, the work forms points of contact between observation and intimacy, public life and private attention, and between places, people, and moments that would not otherwise meet.
