About
St. Anton am Arlberg is an Austrian village in the Tyrolean Alps. It is known as a gateway to the Arlberg ski region and is often called the “cradle of alpine skiing” for its role in inventing the sport. It is also in the heart of one of the snowiest places in Europe. 94 lifts and cable cars provide access to 190 miles of slopes of Valluga, Rendl, Zug, Zurs and Lech. St. Anton is also known for its lively après-ski scene at places such as Base Camp, Mooserwirt and Krazy Kanguru. The 'White Ring' is a great Ski Arlberg Tour for intermediates skiers/boarders. It involves 53 miles of skiing & 59,000ft of vertical in 1 day (if you can finish it)! It is a great way to see the entire region and you never take the same lift!
I have skied in St. Anton many times and think it is one of the best ski resorts in the world. I have stayed at many places in St. Anton but think that the places we plan to stay at this time are the best in terms of location, luxury and food. This time you'll have the option to book 1 of 2 hotels close to each other so it is easy to meet up late afternoon etc. One is cheaper than the other one.
The St. Anton ski/board school is also very good and relative 'cheap' (a 4 day 'course' is circa 400 Euro). Intermediates typically get taught while skiing to a different village, eating lunch there and then returning in the afternoon back to St. Anton. They also have 3 off-piste groups for those who want to ski off-piste all week. It is also a great way to learn how to ski/board, if you are new to the sport. More info can be found here:

The Deal: We will stay at the 4 star hotel Alte Post (
https://www.hotel-alte-post.at/en/
) and the M3 Hotel (
https://www.m3hotel.at/en
) in the center of town. The hotels are very close to all the great Après-Ski bars, night clubs, shops and the main lifts. Rose booked for herself and friends the M3 hotel. I (Guido) will stay at the Alte Post hotel. Both hotels have saunas but only The Alte Post has a pool and jacuzzi. The village's wellness center is nearby which has 8 saunas and has indoor and outdoor pools.
You need to book everything yourself. Contact the hotels if you want a single. If you have a roommate, then you can book on the hotels' websites or online at
www.hotels.com
or similar website. Book as of 1/23/27 for 7 nights. In the past we booked breakfast and dinner. This time most of us will book just breakfast.
You need to book your own flight and bus/train transfers from/to Zurich. There is a great bus from the airport to St Anton (the Arlberg Express). Details can be found below.
Pricing: When I posted this early Feb 2026, the cheapest room rate in the M3 hotel was 3,416 Euro and in the Alte Post Hotel it was 4,268 Euro per room (prices includes breakfast). A 6-day lift ticket will be circa $500. Our hotels do not participate in the 3-day Epic deal; some do but they are more expensive.
The bus from the airport to St. Anton is the 'Alberg Express'. Details and can be found here (you can also make a booking on that site):
https://arlbergexpress.com/en/
In 2026 it was 60 Euro per trip for a circa 3.5hr drive. If you return to the States early on 1/30 then the bus schedule will not suit you. You will then need to book a taxi which you can also do on the arlbergexpressweb site.
Taking skis on AA costs circa $100 per flight; so $200 total. It is cheaper/about the same to rent. If you rent then you can also change out the skies if conditions change or if they get damaged due to off-piste rocks. The hotels will give you info about a rental shop where you can get a discount and where you can leave your skies at night.
Other Info: More about St. Anton can be found here:
https://www.stantonamarlberg.com/en/home
After you book your room please let me know so that I can coordinate everything and let you know what flight I have booked.
It is possible to extend your trip in St. Anton or Zurich. Let me know if you plan to do that.
