Please be on time. We will start promptly at 9 am with introductions and stretching, then we will start our hike.
Hike Location: Pilot Mountain State Park - When you get to the park, the parking lot is at the top of the mountain past the Visitor's Center. Put in "Pilot Mountain State Park parking" into Google Maps or Waze and it will take you all straight to the top.
Trail Description: Grindstone to Ledge Spring to Pilot Knob Trail, 2.7 miles roundtrip, moderate difficulty.
Prepare: Bring water, lunch/snacks, bug spray, sunscreen, hiking boots, & hiking essentials. Dress for the weather. Bring a small first aid kit & prescription medicine (EpiPen, Asthma inhaler, insulin, etc.) in case of injury or medical emergency.
Winery: JOLO Winery and Vineyards (and Restaurant) - 219 Jolo Winery Ln, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. Food and wine are available. Pay for what you order plus gratuity.

Waiver and Liability Agreement:
The Nitza in Nature (Danitza DeVaughn) hiking group is an informal group of people hiking together. Nitza in Nature (Danitza DeVaughn) has no legal status, structure, officers, or assets. Nitza in Nature (Danitza DeVaughn) serves on a volunteer basis as a hike planner and guide.
In consideration for my acceptance as a participant in these events and the services and amenities to be provided by Nitza in Nature (Danitza DeVaughn) in connection with these events, I confirm my understanding that:
I have read any rules and conditions applicable to the event made available to me; I acknowledge my participation is at the discretion of Nitza in Nature (Danitza DeVaughn).
I assume all risks and responsibilities associated with travel and transit to and from the event activities, and I do not hold Nitza in Nature (Danitza DeVaughn) responsible for any risks or issues related to travel.
If I decide to leave early and not to complete the event as planned, I assume all risks inherent in my decision to leave and waive all liability against Nitza in Nature arising from that decision. Likewise, if Nitza in Nature (Danitza DeVaughn) has concluded the Event, and I decide to go forward without the leader, I assume all risks inherent in my decision to go forward and waive all liability against Nitza in Nature (Danitza DeVaughn) arising from that decision.
I understand that Nitza in Nature (Danitza DeVaughn) reserves the right to exclude from the trip any person she judges to be incapable of meeting the rigors of participating in the activities or who refuses or is unwilling to follow the directives of the hike leader.
By registering for this event, I agree to the fullest extent of the law that Nitza in Nature (Danitza DeVaughn), is not responsible or liable for any injuries, illnesses, losses or consequences associated with drinking alcohol. I also agree that I will take safety precautions and drink alcoholic beverages responsibly along with having a designated driver when drinking alcoholic beverages at a Nitza in Nature event.
By registering for this event, I agree to the fullest extent of the law that Nitza in Nature (Danitza DeVaughn), is not responsible or liable for any injuries, illnesses, losses or consequences associated with hiking. I also agree that I will take safety precautions while hiking and follow all safety instructions provided by Danitza DeVaughn. I also agree that I will come to all hiking events prepared with the appropriate supplies and essentials (i.e. food, water, hiking gear, maps, etc.).
By registering for this event, I agree that I will bring any prescribed or over the counter medication that I need for allergies (i.e. food and environmental allergies) and/or diseases/illnesses (i.e. diabetes, asthma, heart disease, etc.) that I have to prevent or manage a medical emergency. I also agree to consult with a medical professional about my illnesses, disabilities, or diseases that may have an impact or effect on my ability to hike safely.
By registering for this event, I agree that no discrimination, violence, or harassment of any kind will be used, tolerated or accepted.
