About
🚴‍♂️ Starting and finishing at Shenfield station at the end of the Elizabeth Line this is a 75km romp through the Essex countryside.
🚂 Two train options depending where you’re starting from: Lizzie Line trains are slow and stop a lot so it’s quicker to get the train from Liverpool Street at 09:23 calling at Stratford 09:30 and arriving at Shenfield at 09:47. No bike reservations needed. Return trains around 14:00.
🌳🚵‍♂️ Country lanes and an undulating route (430m of climbing) will keep it cute and interesting. The majority of the ride is on lanes with some traffic in places so we will need to be careful and sensible in our riding.
🚂 There are options to cut the route short if you prefer by returning by train from Chelmsford or the beautifully named Hatfield Peverel just after half way.
📈 This is a decent distance so not good for a beginner but perfect for anyone who has done this distance before or is building for a century ride in 2026. As ever, there’s a no drop policy and we will regroup at convenient points. Assume a minimum average speed of around 22km/h.
☕️ Cafe stop tbc.
⛈️💨 This is weather permitting. As much as I like a trip to see the Essex boys, I’m not getting soaked, frozen, or blown off my bike!
🗺️ Route details to be finalised soon but this is the rough route:
