About
Join Eight Six Go for a special Black History Month community run along the Hartford Black Heroes Trail, a curated route through downtown Hartford that honors the lives and legacies of Black leaders who helped shape the city. Through movement and shared experience, participants will engage with Hartford’s history in real time, bringing stories of leadership, resilience, and community out of the archives and into the streets.
The Hartford Black Heroes trail was conceived by Hartford City Councilwoman Tiana Hercules’ staff in collaboration with Jasmin Agosto of the Hartford History Center, with research support from UConn student Ryan Brooks. Together, the team identified and researched key historical Black figures connected to Hartford, creating plaques that now line Main Street alongside many of the city’s most historic locations. This run follows that path, using the trail’s interactive digital map to guide participants from site to site.
We’ll gather on the patio at the Hartford Public Library’s downtown location before heading out. Space is limited to 50, but all paces are welcome, and friends and family are encouraged to join. Please be sure to dress appropriately for winter weather; the library will be available for bathrooms both before & after running.
Come ready to move, learn, and celebrate Hartford’s Black history together!
