Walk Summary
Join us for a January walk in the woods!
This event is made up of two walks, a lunch break and an optional sketching activity - let me know in the chat which parts of the day you want to join for - you're welcome to come for either walk, lunchtime sketching or all day!
10am: 5 mile route through the woods. By 12.30 back at the visitor centre for lunch in the cafe or pack up on the picnic benches - there's also the option of some nature sketching in this time. Pip will bring some supplies, but you're welcome to bring your own too! 2pm: 2 mile route through the woods. By 4pm aim to be back at the car park.
This event is for plus size people of all genders to create a safe and inclusive space. We do not set a size restriction on this, but if you are smaller than a size 18/2XL we would ask you to consider if there might be other groups that you could attend.
Route Description:
Both routes follow a variety of path surfaces through the forestry commission woodland. Some sections are muddy and grassy, but the majority is compacted gravel paths.
Both routes have some gentle slopes (around 60m total) on sections with firm and wide paths.

More info
Parking is free for Forestry Commission members, otherwise £9 for all day. Toilets are available in the visitor centre (including a gender neutral accessible toilet). We will be going at a gentle pace that will work for everyone, and nobody will be left behind. The walk will be led with this in mind and numbers will be capped. You should bring all clothing and kit that you need for the weather - including sturdy footwear, a waterproof jacket and warm layers. Please bring any food or snacks you need for a walk of this length, and plenty of water. There is a cafe where you can get lunch or a drink before or after the walks. Our walks are all volunteer run. If your plans change and you are no longer able to attend the walk, please message Pip through Heylo so they know who to expect on the day.
