Meetup:
We’ll depart for the trailhead at 10AM PST, Saturday, March 7 from the Electrify America Chargers in Baker. After a short drivers’ meeting and radio check, we’ll convoy to the Afton Canyon trailhead.

10:00 AM — Drivers’ meeting, comms check, Depart Barstow RAN

Afternoon — Continue east through the canyon, then set up remote dispersed camp within BLM guidelines.
Evening — Set up remote dispersed camp. (2 possible options marked in green) Campfire dinner (weather/fire restrictions permitting) and optional night hike.
Sunday, March 8
Morning — Breakfast and short exploration
11:00 AM — Pack up camp and head out toward Kelbaker Rd
What to Bring:
Recovery gear: tow strap, soft shackles, shovel, traction boards (if you have any)
off-road tires recommended (all-terrain or better)
Radio (GMRS) — required for all participants
Camping & personal gear
Tent, sleeping bag, and cold-weather gear (desert nights can be chilly in March)
Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, and Sunday breakfast
Ample drinking water
Cooler, cooking gear, utensils, trash bags
Lighting, first aid kit, sunscreen, hat, and layers
This is remote camping — expect limited to no cell service, no facilities, and no water access. Plan accordingly.
