About
How it works (normally). Use the Discord channel anime-club under Geek Out to make suggestions. Then I'll use a random choice generator to pick a featured anime from our comprehensive suggested list each month.
With episodes 1-4 of Hazbin Hotel Season 2 being out by this week, we'll be crossing over the ocean for some Western Animation instead of watching Japanese anime this time.
Description In an attempt to find a non-violent alternative for reducing Hell's overpopulation, the daughter of Lucifer opens a rehabilitation hotel that offers a group of misfit demons a chance at redemption.
Content warnings: sexual content, swearing, violence, and makes fun of Christian beliefs. IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO ANY OF THESE THINGS, THIS MAY NOT BE THE SHOW FOR YOU.
Unless otherwise stated, we will watch dubs for accessibility reasons.
I would like to have an anime night on a monthly basis moving forward, though I haven't settled on a day just yet.
I will be serving homemade pizza. Feel free to bring snacks, desserts and/or drinks!
FYI I have a cat and two rabbits (which means hay).
Geek Girls of the East Valley is uniting to help one of our members, Brenda Whiston, to collect items for CEREBRATIONS, a volunteer project her vocational rehab group is doing. Our quest is to gather items to give to Brenda for the project! The vocational rehab team will take our gathered items and put together Care Packages for the homeless that will be delivered the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. If you can help, please bring any of the items below you can donate to the event and give them to the Event Host. Items needed: Tote-bags (to hand out with the items inside at the end of the project) Washcloths (hand made is great too) Shampoo (travel size) Combs Soap Toothbrushes (must be in package) Toothpaste (travel size) Socks (NEW) (multi packs are ok, they will split) Underwear (NEW) (multi packs are ok, they will split) Plastic cutlery Water Bottles Snack Bars Canned food - ONLY in a pop top style that doesn’t need to be heated Wet wipes (not baby wipes, they aren’t antibacterial) Bandaides Tampons Sanitary pads ***Items can be donated in bigger quantity packages as long as they are individually wrapped (except where noted). The “CEREBRATIONS, the Art of Thinking” project is a multi-faceted venture; it provides real-world experience to the team’s volunteers and helps the homeless. The team is made up of developmentally disabled individuals and those with traumatic brain injuries, so the practice they gain handling, reviewing, and making sure every bag has the items needed is a very important first step! Of course, the best step is when they hand these packed-with-care bags to a homeless individual to make their lives just a little bit easier.
