Run Length: 6km Pace: Easy, with walk breaks
A unique and beautiful opportunity to see in the New Solar Year by running at sunrise on the shortest day! We will start at Guildford rail, before running up The Mount. It is 1k to get there, but is a significant climb of around 100m ascent. We will walk the steepest bits. If you don't feel up to that on the day, there is free parking on The Mount and you can meet us at w3w location ///city.hosts.mason at just before 8am to enjoy the views and still join most of the run. Just let me know in the event chat so we can wait for you at the top. We will then run along the top of the Mount continuing to enjoy the views before turning around and running along the South face and back downhill into Guildford where we will choose a cafe for brunch and coffee.
It is absolutely worth joining this run, which promises to be a spiritual boost at the start of the festive season! On a clear day it is possible to see the sun rise over London, silouetting the Shard in the City of London, and see the arch of Wembley Stadium. It is very important we set off in time to reach the Mount in time so please aim to be at Guildford rail by 7:30am. Please use the event chat in case of any issues on the day. Trail shoes are strongly recommended as it will likely be muddy and the steep slope may be difficult in road shoes if there has been recent heavy rain. Please also dress approptriately for the weather, and carry a lightweight waterproof or windproof jacket if you have one.
