About
1-night hiking and camping trip in the Mt Baker area to (hopefully) see some vibrant fall colors. I did Yellow Aster Butte last year end of September and the colors were amazing! I am hoping Sept 20th won't be too early to catch the fall foilage this year.
Plan is to drive up early Saturday morning and hike Yellow Aster Butte, car camp somewhere nearby, then hike chain lakes loop Sunday and head home after. Alternatively if the group prefers, we could backpack and stay at Yellow Aster Butte. If we do car camping, we would find a dispersed site nearby. Twin Lakes campground would be ideal, though this does require high clearance and 4WD (last year I did this in a friend's Toyota Tacoma). If nobody has a car that will make it to Twin Lakes then we will find another dispersed site nearby.
