About
Join us for a nice 8 mile hike that has an elevation gain of circa 1,388ft.
This time we will go up the Appalachian Trail starting from the round parking lot from where the Mt Tammany trail starts as well. We'll hike to Sunfish Pond on the Appalachian Trail and then return down the Dunfield Creek trail that features 5 stream crossings. Bring sturdy shoes and ankle supports if you need them. Due to the heavy rains during the last few weeks the creek may have lots of water. The crossings can be tricky if the stream is full and fast flowing, but it is so much fun!
Towards the end we’ll hit the Dunfield Creek swim hole where we swam in the past and jumped off rocks (bring a towel and swim gear on the hike!). Bring in your car towels, a spare pair of shoes and a change of clothes.
We start this hike early since the Kittatinny round parking lot tends to fill up by 9:00am. If you arrive once it is full then park on the other side of the highway.
Please arrive at 8:30am so that we can start to hike by 8:45am. Try to park in the Kittatinny Point Visitors Center parking lot (first exit on the right after crossing the bridge coming from PA). After parking come to the 'Appalachian Trail Parking Lot' (this is the small circular parking lot across the road).
After the hike we'll go to Joe Bosco's Authentic SmokeHouse BBQ (across the bridge in PA's Water Gap village); one of the best BBQ joints in PA!
