Come and enjoy this 183.4-mile point-to-point trail near St Bees, Cumbria, UK, just south of the Scottish border. It will be a challenging route and should take us 19 days to complete. This is a very popular area for backpacking, birding, and camping, so we will meet many other people while hiking.
Originally described by Alfred Wainwright in his 1973 book A Coast to Coast Walk, this hike travels from Saint Bees and the Irish Sea to Robin Hood's Bay and the North Sea. It is customary to dip your boot in the water at each end and carry a stone from the west coast sea and drop it into the east coast sea.
The walk goes through three major National Parks: Lake District National Park, Yorkshire Dales National Park, and North York Moors National Park. Despite being an unofficial route that has relatively few signposts, this through hike is one of the most popular in the UK.
We will arrive in St. Bees Aug 24 and start hiking early on Aug 25 and we will stay in AirB&B's and get a Company to bring our luggage each day to the next Airb&B. So we will only have to carry daypacks while hiking. Breakfast is included but we need cash for lunches and dinners.
I will limit this hike to myself and 5 others. Total cost EXCLUDING lunches, dinners, flights and transportation to the start and from the end point is estimated to be $2,500.
