Volunteer: Pacers for the Last Ten
Sun, Oct 19, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM GMT
Trader Joe's, East 59th Street, New York, NY, USA
About
If you’re planning on running the Last Ten, please consider also volunteering as a pacer. Let us know your pace and any other considerations in the description.
We ask that pacers arrive at the start at 7:00 AM. Check-in for all runners begins at 7:15 AM. Please arrive no later than 7:35 a.m. so we can start the run promptly at 8:00 AM.
Where: We will meet at the northeast corner of 59th and 1st, just SOUTH of the Queensboro Bridge underpass. The meeting place will be the small plaza in front of the TJ Maxx and Trader Joe’s. Look for the runners decked out in NY Flyer Gear!
Aid Station: Water, Gatorade, and gels at around Mile 6.5 at 110th Street & Fifth Avenue in front of the Duke Ellington Statue. At the FINISH we will have coffee, water, Gatorade and bagels.
Baggage: Drop-off at start location (59th and 1st Avenue); Pick-up at finish (turnaround circle in front of Tavern on the Green in Central Park at West 67th Street). BAGGAGE CHECK IS AT YOUR OWN RISK AND IS OFFERED AS A CONVENIENCE TO RUNNERS. Baggage pick-up will close at 11:00 AM, which gives you plenty of time to finish the run.
Toilets: There are no official toilets at the start. Bathrooms may or may not be available at a nearby Starbucks. There are a few bathrooms at parks along the route that may be open, but pacers will not make stops at these toilets given the relatively short length of the run. Please stay on the sidewalk as much as possible.
Be very careful crossing streets, especially the larger Manhattan streets such as 79th Street, 86th Street, etc., as well as some busy streets in the Bronx. Please do not run through red lights! Avoid running in the bike lanes. We will start with the fastest group first — the 7:30/8:00 MM group will take off at 8:00AM and groups will leave every few minutes through 13 MM/Run-walk group.
-Please note that in order to comply with NYC Parks regulations, each pace group needs to consist of fewer than 20 people.
-Due to construction and rough pavement, please cross over to the sidewalk on the East Side of Fifth Avenue after stopping at the fluid station (110th & Fifth Ave.) It is safe to return to the West Side of Fifth Avenue after 96th Street.
-Please spread out when you enter Central Park. There is a charity walk scheduled at the same time, so the course in the park from Engineers Gate down to 72nd Street will be very crowded. Single file is advisable.  Please use extra caution in this area.

Volunteer Appreciation:
-Volunteering at a Flyer event will place you in the top tier for bib drawings for Club Points races over the next year, greatly increasing your chances of success! (You still must meet the basic requirements of being a dues-paying member who runs for the team in your NYRR Dashboard.)
-Volunteer Appreciation Night: Typically on a Thursday night in November/early December after the Thursday evening run, volunteers for all Flyer events throughout 2025 join us for a free drink and food. And all Flyers can meet the candidates for the 2026 Executive Board and ask them questions.
Please email with any questions.
