The group was initially named the Central Ohio Commodore Users Group but was eventually renamed the Central Ohio Computer Users Group. The name change came after May 6, 1994, when Commodore International announced voluntary bankruptcy and liquidation.
COCUG meetings serve as a social gathering. Attendees discuss computer issues and a variety of other topics, restaurant visits, travel, museums, digital photography, and other eclectic topics. There is no standard agenda or planned presentations. COCUG serves as a general discussion group.
