Welcome to The New Forest! This gorgeous trail route starting in Hawkhill Enclosure will show you some of the best things the forest has to offer. Mainly being gravel tracks or well-trodden paths this route allows you to take in the surrounding forest as we make our way up and down the rolling hills. It is also a haven for wildlife with wild ponies and cows ambling about; abundant bird calls that sound track your run; and the potential to cross paths with Red Deer. It really is a magical run. All paces welcome with plenty of opportunity to stop and take photos if you wish. Well behaved dogs welcome. Suitable for buggy running, but there will be some muddy paths.
Difficulty:
The route will be predominantly on well-kept and well-trodden trails. There may be some technical features but these will be simple to negotiate. There will be some noticeable hills but nothing that will slow down your pace to a complete standstill.
Footwear:
Mixture of gravel track and muddy paths so trail shoes are best. You will get wet feet.
Clothing:
Mainly on paths so shorts sleeves and short leggings/shorts would be fine. However, due to the free roaming wildlife in the area we do have a lot of ticks so please do check once home.
New Forest Code:
Please familiarise yourself with the New Forest Code and adhere to it at all times so that we can continue to enjoy these runs together: https://www.newforestnpa.gov.uk/visiting/help-care-for-the-forest/new-forest-code/
