Grand Prix News: The first road mile championships hosted by USATF-NE will be on SUNDAY, JULY 21 in Hopkinton, MA
COURSE & SITE
Please review the Course and Site Map to help you locate everything from the course to registration to parking to toilets. We will also be emailing race participants this important information.
The course is a lollipop course. At the start runners will have the full width of the road. At 1/4 mile, runners must move to the right of the cones. Runners will reverse directions in a traffic circle and must stay to the right of the cones until the 3/4 mile mark. Runners may use the entire width of the road to finish, unless otherwise directed by a course official.
UPDATE Due to the high numbers, we have added a championship race. There will be a men's 40-59 race and a men's 60+ race. No race will have more than 105 participants. Runners must run in the race that corresponds to their age. This will help us prevent crowding on the course.
NUMBER PICK_UP Numbers have been assigned and can be found on the verification spreadsheet.
Number pickup starts at 7:45 AM. Your team's race numbers will all be in one packet. Please have one person pick up the packet of numbers, pins, and pint glasses for your runners who were in the first 400 registered runners from the registration table.
A team roster with number assignments will be included. Please remind runners to wear their bib numbers on the front of their uniforms.
Runners in the masters and 60+ races will be given an age-group number. Please ask your runners to wear this number on their backs.

TEAM TENTS Teams are welcome to bring team tents and can set up in the field behind the Middle School. Number pickup will be in the same area. Please no alcohol as this is a public school property. Runners and/or teams are subject to disqualification if alcohol is brought to the school property. We encourage you to celebrate at Startline Brewing Company just down the road from the race or at other local establishments.
If you are a team leader setting up a tent, you can park close to the field in the parking lot behind the middle school. Enter off Rt 85 at the middle school entrance. Please only one vehicle in this lot per team.
WARM UP Since we will have several races, runners cannot warm-up on Loop Road. Center Trail is a great place to warm up. It is a cinder trail that is approximately 1km long.
There is construction on Loop Road near the Hopkins School. As of 7/17, areas were dug up and a fence was in place. We marked this as "Construction Area" on the map. Please do not try to warm up in this location.
RULES These competition rules will be followed: Runners can only compete in one event. Runners 39 and under must compete in the Open race corresponding to their sex. Runners 40 and over must compete in the Masters race or 60+ race corresponding to their age and sex. No exceptions. The USATF-NE Road Grand Prix Team scoring is by total time of the required number of runners in a division, lowest total time wins. In the open, 40+ and 50+ categories for both women and men 5 runners are needed to score. In all other age categories, 3 runners are needed to score. For team scoring: In all USATF-NE Road Grand Prix Races, runners may score in any age category for which they are eligible. Older runners may score in any young team divisions as well as their own team age division. At the 1 Mile Road Championships, Open Teams will be scored based on the top 5 times achieved in either the open, masters, or 60+ races. These will be considered net times like at other championship events. In the masters and 60+ races, older runners can be scored in younger categories, such as a 60-year-old runner scoring on a 40+ team. In the Open races, individual places will be determined by gun time. In the Masters and 60+ races, individual places will be determined by net time.
